James “Jim”‘s Obituary
MacDonald, James “Jim,” – Age 70, of The Falls area of Tatamagouche, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2022, at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born on March 25, 1951, Jim grew up in Port Hood, NS. He was the son of the late Dan Charlie and the late Rachel (MacIsaac) MacDonald. Jim is survived by his soulmate, Kelly-Jo; and his siblings, Elizabeth Lawrence, Judique; Catherine (Danny), Judique; Rick (Mary), Parksville, BC; Jerome (Laurie), Dartmouth; Marie, Port Hood; Donald (Joan), Hatchet Lake; Margaret (Derek) Reid, Napanee, ON; Bernadette (Keith Christie), Creignish; Beverly (Wayne) Beaton, Port Hood, and by his aunt, Mary MacIsaac and uncle, Ben MacIsaac. Jim is also survived by sixteen nieces and nephews, seventeen grand nieces and nephews, and three great grand niece and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles. As the oldest brother, Jim taught us many things… including how to play cribbage and chess, but most of all he taught us to laugh (what a laugh he had) and enjoy the moment. Jim was our family story keeper, and always had a story we had not heard before. Jim had fond memories working on Buddy MacDonald’s fishing boat when he was young, and loved being on the water. He worked at Westinghouse Electric Company in Hamilton, ON in his early twenties before returning to Cape Breton and working at the Mill in Port Hawkesbury up until his accident in 1975. Jim moved to the Park Haven Extended Care on Purcell’s Cove Road, and then lived independently for thirty years in the Halifax area before moving to The Falls area in recent years. The family would like to thank Dr Dan MacDonald, palliative care nurse, Martha Ferguson, all the health care workers at Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, VON support workers, and EHS personnel for your care and kindness. A thank you to all the health care workers and friends Jim met over the years during hospital stays at the Nova Scotia Rehabilitation Centre in Halifax. Cremation has taken place under the care of Coulter’s Funeral Home (902-657-3288), Tatamagouche. A private memorial will be scheduled in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Nova Scotia) or the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital Foundation.
