James Burkhart Wallace, “Burke,” – died on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the age of 67 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from Holston High School and the University of Tennessee where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was an avid fox hunter and at one point lived on a farm in Strawberry Plains. He enjoyed travel, reading, cooking, watching good “films” or anything related to Fox News or Law and Order. As much as he may hate to admit it, he really did love Tennessee football and would be sad to miss the rest of this season. He was a dedicated member of the Episcopal church, mostly attending Church of the Ascension, and a member of their Brotherhood. His unique sense of humor and wit will greatly be missed.
He is preceded in death by parents, James L. Wallace and Evelyn B. Wallace.
He is survived by his two children, Lesley Wallace-Berman (Ben) of Charlotte, NC, and Campbell Wallace (Catherine) of Boston, MA; grandchildren from Lesley and Ben, Donald (“The Donald” to Burke), and Evelyn (named for Burke’s mother); brother, Stephen Wallace (Ann) of Knoxville; niece, Elizabeth Wallace Sowell; and nephew, Eric Wallace. He was looking forward to meeting his new grandson, the firstborn of Campbell and Catherine due in January 2023.
