Obituary
Jakob (Jack) Aschenberger passed away surrounded by his family. He lived independently at his residence until the day he died.
Jack was born in Austria, July 22,1937. He grew up there, the eldest boy of 4 children and left for Canada 1955. He worked various jobs to make ends meet until he found himself in the booming oil-patch. After meeting the love of his life, Jeanne Aschenberger, he settled down married and raised a family of his own with Jeanne, and welcomed her 3 young-adult children, (2 boys, 1 girl) as his own, while also adding a fourth child (daughter) to the family.
Jack loved to spend time at his Clearwater County cabin, was an avid hunter, loved fishing, curling and golf, tinkering on his antique project cars as well as his Saturday morning coffee down at the DQ. He was a blood donor (150+) for Red Cross and involved with many local fundraising projects like Ducks Unlimited events but also quietly enjoyed his own personal efforts in conservation, specifically, the hard work he did to help maintain regional blue bird populations. He was a true outdoorsman.
Jack was pre-deceased by his own Mother, Father, & youngest Brother (Franzie) -all of Austria- His late wife, Jeanne Aschenberger, M.I.L- Mary Fleury, and Son-Chris Mitchell. Left to mourn are his siblings Liz, Rudy, Melitta, together, with their children and extended family and friends-in Austria. His remaining children: Scott (Christine) Mitchell, Mary Ellen Mitchell, and Cecilia Aschenberger (Eli), daughter-in-law, Pam Mitchell, and his grandchildren (all in Canada) all of whom he was so very proud.
If you so choose, donations may be made in Jack’s name, to the Sylvan Lake Foundation, or Ellis Bird Farm.
Cremation entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
