Obituary
The loving family of J. Yvon McGraw, beloved husband of the late Marie Eva (Comeau) McGraw for 65 years, wish to announce his passing which occurred at his residence on September 5, 2022. Born in Tracadie-Sheila, December 26, 1928, he was the son of the late Azade and Annie (Sonier) McGraw.
He started his working life with his father at 15 years old. He joined the Royal 22nd Regiment, Van Doos, Vingt-Deux Troop for 2 years out of Quebec. Upon leaving the Armed Forces he worked with the Carpenter’s Union on various projects including the Harbour Bridge and Simonds High School. He worked for many years with Melvin Lawson on all aspects of the carpentry trade. He also assisted at the family sawmill and enjoyed working in the woods.
First and foremost, he put his family first and truly enjoyed family gathering when everyone was together. He always put others first no matter the cost and was always the first to offer his help to anyone who may have needed it. He was a genuine outdoorsman camping, skating, riding his side by side, ATV’s and his snowmobile. He could always be found tinkering and building many things. His reward was to go to Dairy Queen and Arby’s Restaurant.
He is survived by his children; Carolle Patterson, Yves (Sherry) McGraw, John (Sandy Simmie) McGraw, and Clarence (Kathy) McGraw, grandchildren; Melissa (Steven) Roy, Amanda (AJ) Turple, Matthew (Janelle) McGraw, and Scott (Julie) McGraw, great-grandchildren; Amy Patterson, Danielle, Nicholas, Hannah, Hailey, Tyson, Feyona, Mia, Evelynn, Sophia, Carter, and Shayna, his siblings; Omer, Edgar (Anna), Patricia (Aime), Edwidge (Cyril), Theresa, Emmanuel (Claudette).
