Peacefully at the Souris Hospital on Thursday, January 27, 2022, Ira Ray Stewart passed away with his loving wife and children by his side. He was aged 85 years of Red Point, PE. Ira leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife of 54 years Nora (nee MacDonald) and will be forever loved by his son Brent (Tracy) and daughter Shellie (Jeff) Hughes. He will also be fondly remembered as caring “Apie” to his grandchildren Hallie, Dean, Kale and Sawyer.
In addition, he is survived by his siblings Glen and Arthur (Anne) Stewart, Kay Jones, sister-in-law Joan Stewart and loved by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Nelson and Helen Stewart, son Dean, siblings Eldon Stewart, Jean (Preston) Coffin, sister-in-law Barb Stewart and brother-in-law Smokey Jones. The family would like to acknowledge the special care and attention given to Ira by Dr. Bronaugh and the supporting staff during his stay at the Souris Hospital.
Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home where visiting hours will take place for family only. A private funeral mass will be held at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Souris with interment to follow in the church cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of Ira can be made to the St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund.
