We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Horst Demuth on Monday, July 25, 2022.
Horst was born in Düsseldorf, Germany on June 27, 1948 to Gerda and Otto Demuth.
Dad came to Canada in 1969 searching for land of opportunities and as a young man, he strongly believed it was the best place to be. Canada has been home to Horst for over 50 years. Here is where he met his wife Josephine and they later married in Holzheim on December 7, 1971. Josephine and Horst had three children with one of them (Simon) being born in Germany.
Dad was a genuine and kind man. He expressed his kindness to everyone he’d meet and was loved by many. He leaves many fond memories and we will never forget his silly gestures.
Horst has a heart of gold and was a true professional and passionate painter. For over 40 years, his strive for excellence in his work was appreciated and recognized. He loved painting for Valour Decorating Ltd. 1988, Buhle, Qualico, etc. and retired in 2010. Dad also had a special place in his heart for cats and an interest in fast cars alike.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Leila (Randy) of Barrhead, Alberta, Olivia (Chris) of Winnipeg, son Simon (Michelle) of Winnipeg, six grandchildren and the many family relatives in Germany.
Opa truly was the best. He will be sorely missed by all but never forgotten as he made his presence felt.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Avenue, Winnipeg. Interment to follow at Waverley Memorial Gardens.
