Obituary
Koops, Hendrika Rachel.(Henny) At 96 years of age, our dear mother passed away peacefully July 30 2022 at Spring Valley care with family at her side. She is survived by her children, Gerritt (Jeannette) of Chilliwack, Carl, Eimert and Rita (Bill) all of Kelowna, 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 9 Great great grandchildren, dear friend Karen and many more extended family, both here and in Holland. She was predeceased by her husband Jan (John), in 2004.
She was born July 6 1926 in Rotterdam Holland and during the war years made an epic journey walking to northern Holland where she met and later married her loving husband of 56 years. They immigrated to Canada with two small children, spending approximately 8 years in the McBride area where two more children were born. In 1960 they settled in the Rutland area.
Henny was a dedicated homemaker who also spent many hours volunteering in the community. As a devoted Christian throughout her life she became affiliated with the Rutland United church volunteering her time in many capacities, including over 30 years with the Sunday School. She was also involved with foster care and later she spent many years in the capacity as a pastoral care visitor at Cottonwoods.
A graveside service will be held Aug 8th – 10 am at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with a Celebration of life/memorial luncheon to follow at the Rutland Centennial Hall.
The family would like to thank Christy and all the staff at Spring Valley Care for their amazing care and compassion over the past 14 years.
