FARRELL, Helen G. ‘Huddie’ (Langille)
Pictou
Helen Georgina Farrell -91, of Pictou passed away May 3, 2022 in the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou. Born in Pictou she was a daughter of the late Russell and Mary (Hartling) Langille. ‘Huddie’ met her former spouse Terry Farrell in 1946; they married in Pictou in 1947. Soon after they moved to Ontario, having their first son Glen Russell in 1949 (deceased in 1966) and their second son Terry Joe ‘T.J.’ in 1962. Huddie at a young age worked at the Hamilton’s Cookie Factory in Pictou. She figure skated in many shows throughout 1945. She worked with her mom and grandmother feeding and caring for boarders during the war. She also worked at the local canning factory before she was married. She started baking and making biscuits at an early age and made them up until she moved to the Oddfellows in 2017. She was a homemaker, and spotless it was (clean socks on that newly waxed floor). She was an amazing cook. It didn’t need to be Sunday for a roast dinner. She made the best desserts, pies, cakes and fudge every Halloween, all the neighbor kids knew it. She liked camping, swimming and sun bathing in her middle ages. Huddie loved to kick up her heels and dance up a storm. She was a talented seamstress, knitting sweaters and crocheting, arranging flowers and making crafts throughout her 70’s and 80’s with hundreds of pictures for proof. In 1998 she remet Frank Murdock and lived common-law for 16 years until Frank passed in November 2014. Frank once said “she was the first girl I kissed on the way home from school as kids and now the last woman to kiss”. Huddie is survived by her sisters, Coleen (Earl) Simpson, Karen McDougall; son, T.J. Farrell; grandkids, Angel (Matt), Brian (Ashley); great-grandkids, Star, Gage, Noah, Lilly, Charlee and Morgan and so many cousins, nieces, nephews. Special thanks to the Oddfellows Home for the care they gave her, big hug to Montica and thanks to all the staff these last 6 months. The last couple days the love and emotions were high with lots of tears. Another special thanks to Rev. Lynne MacDonald for her heart felt prayers. Visitation will be held Saturday from 2-4 PM in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Service will follow at 4 PM. Donations in Huddie’s memory may be made to the Joubert Syndrome & Related Disorders Foundation in honor of her great-granddaughter Lillian Swick.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Helen
