The death of Helena “Lena” Mary (Keenan) Brophy wife of Roger Brophy of Howards, NB, occurred on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 74. Born in Keenans, NB, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Yvonne (Colford) Keenan. Helena was a homemaker, who was a former member of Legion of Mary, taught catechism and was faithful in praying for anyone who needed prayers.
Besides her husband, Roger, Helena is survived by daughters: Cyndi Gilchrist (Ed) of Blackville, NB; Joni Curtis (Jordan) of Gray Rapids, NB; son: Rodney (Susan) of Blackville, NB; grandchildren: Cassandra, Devan (Madalyn), Amanda (Mackenzie), Ashton (Kolby), Derek, Jaclyn, Bryce and Austin; great grandchildren: Kaysen and Kolton; siblings: Joanne Munn (Junior) of Blackville, NB; Bernice Colford (Norman) of South Nelson, NB; Henry Keenan (Sherrill) of Blackville, NB; Allen Keenan (Helen) of Blackville, NB; Leonard Keenan (Kim) of Howards, NB; Donnie Keenan (Kathy) of Keenans, NB; Richard Keenan (Terry) of Keenans, NB; Gerard Keenan (Margaret) of Keenans, NB; James Keenan (Jolene) of Keenans, NB; Johnny Keenan (Debbie) of Keenans, NB as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Helena is predeceased by infant sons: Patrick and Clyde and grandson: Darren Brophy and son-in-law: Craig Colford.
The family will receive visitors at the Father AA McKinnon Hall, Blackville on Friday, July 29, 2022, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church, Blackville on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 11 AM with Father Claude Daigle officiating. Burial will take place in the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Cemetery, Howards, NB.
