Whitehead, Helen Ruth -It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Ruth Whitehead (Kinchsular) announces her peaceful passing at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the age of 92 years.
Born in Sudbury, Ontario on August 12, 1929, Helen graduated from Western University with degrees in Fine Art and Business. She lived in many cities with her family including Sudbury, Delhi, London, North Bay, Elliot Lake, and Chicago, Illinois. Helen was a professional artist who had a studio at her home on Trout Lake, North Bay, where she created many award-winning pieces of art and taught students of all ages. She led a very active volunteer life with many groups including Trinity United Church Choir, Choral Society, Board of Governors at Nipissing University, Elliot Lake Police Board, an Associate Member of the Sisters of St. Joseph and more. Helen loved to spend time outdoors at her home on the lake and loved swimming. She was a life-long learner, loved to read and was a well-known “social butterfly”.
Helen was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending every minute she could with family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 Years, Kenneth Whitehead (2018) and son Andrew “Drew” (1967) and was mother to Paul, Peter (Lana), Matthew (Susan), grandmother to Bronwyn (Anto), Julia, and Andrew, and is survived by her sister Rose Pettit and brother Will Kinch.
A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held at Trinity United Church in North Bay on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at Hillside Funeral Services in North Bay on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
An inurnment will be later in the summer in Delhi, ON. Donations may be made to the North Bay Regional Health Centre in her name.
