Heather Ruth Martin Romo April 26 2022 avis de deces

Romo (Martin), Heather “Ruth” – Age 74, of Dartmouth and Chezzetcook, passed away Tuesday, April 26th, 2022, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, embraced by her family. Born in 1947, she was the daughter of the late John and Marjorie (Williams) Martin.
Ruth was predeceased by her brothers, Phillip, Cyril, Wish, Ronnie, Roy, and Percy “Bub”. She is survived by her lovingly devoted companion and husband of her heart, John Muise; daughters, Wanda (Sam) Bowser, Heather Romo, Paula (Mark) Keizer, Kimberly (Mark) Skinner; grandchildren, Gloria, Edmond, Clarice, Stacy, Kacey, Mikayla, Jenny, Lily, Paige; sister, Donna (Kenneth) Goldsworthy; brother, Ralph and many nieces and nephews.
As a young woman, Ruth was proud to have worked at the Halifax School for the Blind. She then met and married her ex-husband, Weldon Romo, staying home to raise her quickly growing family. Ruth kept an immaculate house! A typical day may find the girls all set to assigned tasks. Applying floor wax with woollen socks to the linoleum floors, polishing the banister with lemon oil, washing windows, hanging laundry or dusting furniture; cleanliness was next to Godliness in our Mother’s house! Ah, but there was laughter; many of Ruth’s treasured memories were of times spent (often with extended family members and friends) all crammed together in our tiny one-room shack on Fisherman’s Beach in Lower East Chezzetcook. A woman of strong faith, Ruth was a firm believer in the power of prayer. She taught Sunday school, kept a bible at her bedside and utilized the comfort of her rosary beads in times of worry or uncertainty, thankfulness and contemplation. If you were a friend, neighbour, or family member in need, Ruth was there for you in whatever capacity was within her means to help. Be it a loaf of bread, a shared meal, mending a shirt or simply lending an ear, Ruth cared by lending herself. Her nurturing nature was far-reaching, extending beyond her cherished grandchildren to include those who will remember her fondly as the community Nanny. An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing cards, Wordsearch and Crosswords. Until her recent illness, Ruth was keen on weekly and often daily car drives to the country with John. In 2021, Ruth was overjoyed to become a great-grandmother to identical twin boys, Jonathan and Jesse Cox. We will miss her dearly and forever hold her in our hearts.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A funeral service with reception to follow will be held Monday, May 2nd at 11 a.m. in Saint Genevieve Church, East Chezzetcook, with Father Jimmy Richards, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, N.S.
