Obituary of Hazel Eileen Hadley
Hazel Eileen Hadley, 77 of New Minas, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, after a lengthy battle with Dementia on September 5, 2022. Born March 19, 1945 in Stewiacke, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Frances (Conrad) Reid.
Hazel worked for many years at the Hilden Optometrist Clinic before finishing her career with the Fall River Family Practice. She remained with the family practice until her retirement.
Hazel and her loving husband, Gordon, enjoyed travelling and spent 21-years as Snowbirds in Florida where they went on many Caribbean Cruises with the best of friends. They made many lifelong friendships during their 27-years Hazel and Gordon spent camping at Evangeline Campground. The couple relished in the time spent together on Bus Tours, looking for bargains at yard sales, bingo, going for drives enjoying each other’s company, and the countless family gatherings that she loved so much.
Hazel was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother who had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh.
Hazel will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband, Gordon Hadley; daughters, Virginia (Bobby) Eye; Shawn (Derrick) Robertson; Joanne (Stephen) Dalrymple; Kelly (Paul) Atwell; grandchildren, Katie (Stan); Douglas (Mikhayla); Dean (Molly); Sidney (Riley); Daniel; Ashtin; Jenna (Trevor); Alexander; great-grandchildren, Justice; Jayson; Zachariah; Aurora; Sophie; Georgia; Theo; sisters, Audrey (Clint) Dixon and Helen (Rob) Robbins; brother-in-law, Wayne Hadley; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her sister, Joanne Parker.
Many thanks to all the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) that helped with her home care.
To end every call, in the favorite words of Hazel, “Byes-a-bye!”
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Canadian Red Cross, or charity of choice.
