GABBANI, Guerino “Guy”
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Wentworth Lodge in Dundas at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Effie Gabbani for 67 years. Loving father of Marianne (Harry), Vivian and Tom (Linda). Proud Nonno of Alexandra, Kristopher and Derek. Cherished brother of Mary. Predeceased by his sister Dina. Guy will also be deeply missed by many extended family members and friends. Thank you to all of the doctors and staff at Wentworth Lodge for their outstanding care and compassion.
Guy was born and raised in Cobalt, Ontario. At an early age he moved to Noranda, Quebec. He started working as a plate worker and was a volunteer fire fighter for Noranda Mines. After 40 years of work, he decided to retire at the age of 60. He and Effie retired and moved to North Bay where they lived for approximately 17 years. He loved to hunt for partridge and ice fish on Lake Nipissing. He had an ice hut condo where we had lots of fishing and family gatherings. To be closer to the family, they moved to Burlington for 15 years. He loved to tend to his vegetable garden and flower beds. In his spare time, he would sit on his patio and people and dog watch. He also watched every Blue Jay game; he was a big fan. He loved his family, laughter, food and drinks.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2265 Headon Road, Burlington on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and a reception at Smith’s Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to The Alzheimer Society would be sincerely appreciated.
