Greta A. Steeves, of Lower Coverdale, passed away peacefully
on her 101st birthday at The Moncton Hospital
on Thursday, March 10, 2022 and is now home in Heaven with her Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ. Born in Gladeside, NB, she was the daughter
of the late Ora and Lucy Ann (Lowther) Jones.
Greta retired from the T. Eaton Co. Ltd, she was a former
manager of the Forget Me Not Gift Shop in the Riverview Mall. She was
a dedicated and faithful member of Gunningsville Baptist Church where
she served the church in many capacities over the years. Greta was
also a member of the Seniors Happy Gang and Parklane Seniors Bowling
League. She enjoyed knitting, writing poetry, and precious time spent
with her family.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Elaine Arbeau (Rev.
Dr. Vance), Eldora Levy, Bonita Swan (Robert), Millian Hope (David
Balser), Dwight Steeves (Nancy), Delbert Steeves (Marion), Winston
Steeves (Heather), Glenn Steeves (Kimberley) and Brent Steeves
(Janice); 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and two great
great grandchildren; She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews
and extended family members. Greta was the last surviving member of
her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her
husband, Martin Steeves (2013); sisters, Hilda, Ruby, Emily and Ella;
as well as brothers, Clinton, Vernon, Ronald, Elmer, Miner and Miley;
and son-in-law, Gerald Levy.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A
Funeral Service to Celebrate and Honour Greta’s life will be
held from the Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 14, 2022
at 11:00 am with Rev. Blair Holden officiating. Reception to follow in
the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment will be held at Fair
Haven Memorial Gardens.
