Gregory Joseph Zygmund Wozny was born on February 17, 1951, in Montreal, Quebec and passed on February 1, 2022, in Ymir, BC. Being the child of a major in the Canadian army, Greg moved and lived all over Canada, and even called England home for the early 60’s.
Greg was the eldest of four children: Greg, Richard, Rosanne, and Jane and had many cousins across Canada. At 19 years old, Greg decided he wanted to make the West Kootenays his home and purchased land in Ymir. From there he began a few businesses, his tree planting company, Deep Roots, and selective logging company, Lucky Logging, and a few others in between. In 1989 Greg welcomed to the world his son, Merlin, and in 2016 also welcome his grandson, Travis.
Greg was a hard working, nature loving man. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it more than he did.
Greg was loved by everyone who met him and will be missed by all who got the pleasure of doing so.
In his final years you could find Greg either with his beloved pets: the pigs, parrots, or his dog, or out enjoying his property with his grandson.
Greg is survived by his son, Merlin (Sarianna), grandsons Travis & Jesse, sisters Rosanne (Sam) and Jane, and nieces Ali, Asha, Rebecca, and cousin Veronica.
Greg was predeceased by his parents Zygmund and Ann, his brother Rick, and his beloved pet pig Elmer.
In lieu of flowers and cards, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Greg’s name will be greatly appreciated.
