It is with great sadness that we nonetheless celebrate the rich and animated life of Robert “Bobby Gee” Green who passed away peacefully at St Catharines General Hospital Thursday June 9, 2022.
Bobby was known and loved by many as both a lover and a fighter. Mr. Don Cherry affectionately referred to him as the refrigerator with arms. Amazing hockey player, Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League, Ontario Hockey Association Senior A for the Brantford Majors, Welland Sabres and Welland Merchants, and of course Dunnville Mudcats and professional and Golden Gloves boxer. He could be found spending the last years of his life in the gym training young people, and around Dunnville on his bike.
Predeceased by loving parents Lloyd (Soggy) Green and Florence (Gardner) Green. He will be missed by his sisters Sherry (and husband Stanley) Swayze, and Eileen McDonald, as well as his brother David and sister-in-law Marnie Green, daughter Sara, son Rob (wife Shelly), his grandchildren Kaiden, Macie, Matthew, Hillary, Kendra, Emma, Landon, and Logan, and great grand twins Jack and Hudson. Also missed by oodles of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a very big thank you to the very patient nurses and staff who cared for Bobby over the last two years at the Dunnville hospital as well as to Dr. Blake, and to the ICU nursing staff at St Catharines General for their amazing end of life care. And a very big loving thank you to Bobby’s lifelong childhood friend Uncle Jim Nye who spent endless hours supporting Bobby during his final fight over the last few months he had with us.
Bobby was very adamant about not having a funeral, but we plan to have a Celebration of Life for him in a manner that will reflect his life and spirit near his birthday in September. We will release details soon. There are so many of you who have amazing stories about “Bobby,” and some great nicknames. We ask you to celebrate him with us by sharing them below. He would have loved this.
If you care to make a donation please make it to Pro Kids Sports – Dad was always mentoring some youth or encouraging people to get fit so it would honour him to help kids who do not have access financially.
One of my favourite memories was he was always the one to show up last at family weddings and make a grand entrance right after the bridal party and everyone would shout “Bobby” – only seems fitting that he would steal Dunnville’s thunder by making his grand exit on Mudcat Weekend!
Please share online condolences and memories jwhartfuneralhome.com

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of GREEN Robert Bobby Gee 2022..
