Grant Chalker February 19 1934 to December 20 2021 avis de deces

Passed peacefully away on December 20, 2021 at St Patrick’s Mercy Home at 87 years of age. Predeceased by his wife, Jan Chalker, parents Tom and Ruth Chalker. Leaving to mourn daughters, Kate Chalker and Beth (Joffre Bruce), and son, Tom Chalker (Janice); grandchildren Sarah Moffatt, Hannah Moffatt (Lenny Leblanc), Will Moffatt (Kayla), Grant Moffatt (Robyn), Leslie (Jody Charlebois), Lori Bruce, Brent Chalker and Julia Chalker; great-grandchildren Sophie Moffatt, Reagan Moffatt, Lucas Charlebois & Lyla Charlebois; nieces Viki O’Dea (Gerry Critch), Jane Tomlinson (Paul) and nephew Stephen O’Dea (Cheryl).
Throughout their marriage, Grant and Jan were surrounded by many friends and enjoyed a very busy and happy social life. They spent many enjoyable years at ‘The Estate’ and on ‘The Boat’. Grant was known for his organizational skills and one of his favourite undertakings was Newfoundland and Labrador’s hosting of the 1977 Canada Summer Games. He spent many years volunteering with Jaycees, Liberal Association, Murry’s Pond, St Augustine’s Church and Rotary Club of St. John’s. Grant will always be remembered for his cheerful disposition and his ability to diffuse a situation with a kind word or humorous insight. Whenever anything happened his wife would say “Grant do something” and he did. He often quipped that he was a fortunate man who had lived a very happy life.
We would like to express a very special thank-you and sincere appreciation to the staff of St Patrick’s Mercy Home and especially Chris Fudge, for months of kind and compassionate care.
