Grace Marie Crabbe Elliott-Edney 1943 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Grace Marie (Crabbe) Elliott-Edney, on September 11, 2022.
Mom was born on March 14, 1943, in Woodstock, New Brunswick, to Charles “Donald” and Muriel Marguerite (Wright) Crabbe and was raised in the village of Debec. She was the second of seven children and took on a motherly role with her younger siblings at an early age, defining her life as a devoted mother, caregiver, and exceptional cook.
Mom will be remembered as a caring mother and grandmother who always put others first. She was a special lady, strong yet gentle, determined and fiercely proud of her family. She was practical and frugal and could stretch a dollar further than anyone. She was gregarious and fun-loving, with a hearty laugh and an adorable sense of humour. Some of her one-liners kept her family laughing years later.
She was very hospitable and would not let you leave her home without having a bowl of her homemade chilli or soup. She loved to garden and pick blueberries, knit, crochet, play the guitar, dance, and listen to country music. She took great pride in her home and was an immaculate housekeeper.
Mom never missed an opportunity to celebrate her loved ones’ achievements, attending graduations, showers, weddings, and special events of all kinds. She dearly loved her husbands, children and grandchildren, sons-in-law, sisters and brothers, in-laws, and nieces and nephews. She always looked forward to getting together with family and greeted the cherished people in her life with a huge smile and a warm hug.
She was well-loved by everyone in her condo community and was willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. She helped nephews, Kenny and Paul when they lost their mother at an early age, as well as her brother, Johnny and her step-grandson, Christopher, in their difficult times.
Mom is survived by her husband, Ronald Edney of Upper Kingsclear; her three children, Katherine (Ross Muir) of Kemptville, Ontario, Belinda (Anthony Bielecki) of Douglas Harbour, and Derek of Fort McMurray, Alberta; her grandchildren, Lindsay (Stefan Mićić), Alexander, and Caroline Muir; her step-grandchildren, Stefan (Paige) and Emily Bielecki (Jordon Kenny), and Jonathan Parker (Colleen); several step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Jewell (Eugene) of Houlton and Donna Grant of Brownville Junction, Maine; her in-laws, Dorothy Walls, Ann Gombar (Jerry), Richard Elliott, Carol Duchemin, Shirley Elliott, Edith Caroll (Fred), Marie Thompson (Floyd), Pauline Willis (Ralph), Allen McBeth (Lois), and Theresa Abromaidytes (Vytas); her stepdaughters, Heather Parker and Faith White; and will be sadly missed by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, and her extra special grand-puppy, Sugar.
She is predeceased by her parents; her first husband and father of her children, Arthur Elliott; her sister, Gladys Turner and brothers, Charles, William, and Johnny; her nephew, Kenneth Crabbe, and her step-grandson, Christopher Bielecki.
Her family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the first responders, the ER, and ICU staff at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, especially nurses Ashley Chase, Darian Brown, and RT Ashley Magee. We know you did everything you could to save our beautiful mother.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, at McAdam’s Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, September 19, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 1500 Hanwell Road, Fredericton at 11 a.m., with Fr. Bill Brennan officiating. A reception will follow, and interment will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery in Lincoln at 3 p.m.
Memorial donations to Fredericton Community Kitchens, the SPCA, or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
