Obituary
It is with broken hearts the family announces the passing of Gordon Waldo Mitton which occurred on Friday, December 31st at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1942, in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Gordon and Margaret (Prosser) Mitton. Gordon came to Saint John in the mid 50’s and had to pay a head tax to live and work here. He worked as a Supervisor with John Flood & Sons for several years. He was a member of the Saint John Construction Association and a former member of Main Brace. Gordon enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds, travelling, working in the garage and spending time outdoors. He loved his Kubota tractor and had a great love for animals, especially his dogs Legend, Gracie, Joy and Nicki and his cat Bentley.
Gordon is survived by his loving and devoted wife Christine (Newman) of Kars, NB; daughters Connie Mitton of Saint John, Christine Whetmore (Norman) of Rothesay, NB, Colleen Cameron (Albert) of Saint John; brothers Roland Mitton of Medicine Hat, AB, David Mitton (Wanda) of Kamloops, BC, Paul Mitton (Paulette) of Lakeville, NB, William Mitton of Woodstock, NB; sisters Sherley Corey (George) of Portland, ME, Sheila Strickland of Ontario, Mary Murphy (Doug) of Fredericton, NB; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his brother John and sisters Margaret and Ola.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Thursday, January 6th from 12 to 2 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Fundy chapel beginning at 2 p.m. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, all guests wanting to attend the funeral service are asked to call 646-2424 to RSVP. Proof of Vaccination and a form of government issued ID is required for all those attending visiting and funeral services. Interment will take place at Five Points Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Gordon may be made to the SPCA-Animal Rescue, SJRH Palliative Care Unit or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
