Gord Nicholl 1944 2022

Obituary of Gord Nicholl
Gordon Arthur Nicholl ventured into his new life, in peace, on Monday, January 3, 2022, at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre with his loving wife by his side. The world may change around us, but our never-ending love will always be there as a dear husband of 55 years to Sandra Diane Jean Nicholl (nee Wilson) and loving father to Dad’s Darlin Robin Jo Ann Nicholl.
He was always a proud Newfoundlander from the day he was born in Gambo on June 23, 1944. Predeceased by loving parents and in-laws; Dad – Wilfred Worthman Nicholl born in Carbonear, NL., Mother – Pat Nicholl (nee Wicks) born in Valleyfield NL., and Father and Mother-In-Law – Gerald William Wilson and Joan Wilson (nee Farrell). Survived by sisters, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law; Daphne Rohmann and long-time friend Judy Reinholt of Cathedral City, CA., Glenda Courtice (late Paul) of Bath, ON., Claudia Brews (late Peter) of Calgary, AB., and Ken William Wilson and Silvia Wilson. Survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family in the UK and many extended families all whom he loved.
Gord had many careers that he loved and left lasting impressions on all, as a teacher, band manager and retailer. He lived a full life and met all his challenges with determination. He had the ability to make the best of any situation through his faith, his friendly demeanor and in his kindness to others. He loved learning and shared his findings with others in discussions in a thought-provoking way to make our world a better place.
Special thanks to neighbours, emergency teams, ICU doctors and nurses for all their tender care in a very difficult year. A Celebration of Life will be announced in the spring. For those wishing to donate, some suggestions might be to Almost Home in Kingston, any children’s group homes in your area or any charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa, Ontario K0H 2H0 (613-386-7373).

  1. Dear Sandy and Robin

I was so very saddened today when I learned of Gord’s passing. You both have my most sincerest condolences and sympathies! Gord launched my music career (albeit short lived) and he made me and Richard and all the boys in all the bands he managed feel like family!! He was one of a kind and although we hadn’t communicated much in the past I am truly feeling the hurt. He did so much for so many that we all can’t help but admire his generosity and be thankful he included us in his life!! Super big hugs to both of you! Don’t worry…he’s shaking things up in heaven’s music department!! He’s gonna make it better!!!

  2. Dear Aunt Sandy and Robin-
I was so terribly saddened after receiving the news about Uncle Gordie and my deepest sympathies are with you both in your profound loss.
It didn’t matter how many years had passed between visits but Uncle Gordie would always greet me the same way – with a big hug and greet me with “my goddaughter Nancy”. He had a way of always making me feel so special. I will always remember him telling wonderful stories and having such an energetic and positive way about him.
I am so happy I had the chance to work at Play and Learn to be able to connect with you both more often and during that time Uncle Gordie would always keep me updated on Robin and was so full of love of pride for his beloved daughter.
I am thinking of you both so much right now and am hoping that this very difficult time might be eased with happy memories and much peace.
Uncle Gordie was such a special person and I am so grateful for the happy memories that I have of him.
    Much love to you both-
    Nancy

  3. To Sandy and Robin:

I am so sorry to hear of Gord’s passing. It has been many years since I’ve seen Gord but I will never forget his kindness, and yours, to Richard and I in those early, crazy Brides days.

I hope all your wonderful memories of your time together will comfort you and Robin during this difficult time.

    With sympathy,

    Kris and Richard
