Obituary
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Glenna McEwen on May 24, 2022. She passed away at the age of 74 with her family by her side after a battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years Jack, daughter Shauna (Geoff), son Glen as well as her three beloved grandsons Bryden, Quinn and Cameron who meant the world to her as well as sister in law Joyce Adamson, brother in law Wayne McEwen (Colleen), numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her father Glen Good, mother Phyllis Good, sister Gloria Hunt, brother in law Roy Hunt, father in law Bob McEwen, mother in law Edith McEwen, brother in law Don Adamson, her dog Bailey and her grandpuppy Truman.
Glenna was born and raised on a farm just outside of Pense, Saskatchewan. Glenna was the most amazing wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin and special friend to so many. Her family was the most important thing to her. Her favourite memories included Christmas and family dinners (her specialty was well done roast beef and the best apple pie ever) as well as annual family trips to Palm Desert every March, and summer holidays spent at their cabin at Kootenay Lake. Glenna loved being a hockey mom and a hockey grandma, sometimes attending 3 games in one day.
Glenna will be remembered for being such a kind and fun loving person. She was tiny in stature but she had a huge heart. She also had such a great sense of humour. She was a talented artist who loved to paint. Most of her paintings were of Saskatchewan farm scenes. She also enjoyed to crochet but her favourite pastime was definitely gardening. She would be in the garden from sun up until sun down. She had a love of antiques, inukshuks and black bears which you would find in the cabin and all throughout her garden.
Cremation has taken place and at Glenna’s request, there will not be a formal service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
The family would like to sincerely thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre as well the amazing nurses, the wonderful volunteers and Dr O. at the Foothills Country Hospice for their kind and compassionate care in Glenna’s final days.
If friends and family so desire, donations can be made to the Foothills Country Hospice www.countryhospice.org/support-us/or the Tom Baker Cancer Centre www.albertacancer.ca/donate/.
Arrangements are being taken care of by Snodgrass Funeral Home in Okotoks.
