1936-2022
The death of Glenna June (Foote) Leavitt, wife of the late
Gaston S. Leavitt occurred at her residence in Back Bay, NB on
November 25, 2022. Born at Freeport, NS on June 24, 1936, she was the
daughter of the late Elizabeth Mae Foote. A loving mother, grandmother
and sister, she is survived by her daughters: Carol Ann (Wayne) Shaw
of L’etete, NB and Joan Crocker of Pennfield, NB; 11 grandchildren;
several great and great-great grandchildren; siblings: Hattie
Albright, Billy Albright and Walie Albright all of Freeport, NS;
sister in-law: Marjorie (Gifford) Cooke of St. George, NB, as well as
several nieces, nephews and cousins including special nephew: Dean
Albright. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her
husband’s: Cedric Hill and Gaston Leavitt; son: Jimmy Hill and
brother: Stan Wood.
Glenna was known for her hard work ethic. She spent most of
her life in the fishing industry, having worked for Connor’s Brothers
as well as clamming and lobster fishing. She was an avid card player,
especially cribbage and she loved doing puzzles. Glenna also enjoyed
hard work as a hobby. Whether it be doing bait bags or in the woods
tipping as well as being at home making wreaths. She also enjoyed
spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She will
be sadly missed by her family and community.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. There will be no
visitation . A graveside service will be held at the Blacks Harbour
Community Cemetery on Tuesday at 1:00pm with Pastor Gordon Cooke
officiating. In Glenna’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County
Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Online donations
