Glenn William Cove passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at his home on St. Joseph Island, Ontario. Beloved husband of 59 years of Patricia (nee Radigan). Cherished father of Barb (Ryan & Amanda (Isabella & Roman)), Brian & Kandy (Rhiannon & Jeff (Shaelynn, Olivia), Kendra & Luke, Rachel & Jon (Ava, Tate), Nick & Abby, and Josh & Olivia), Kathy & Glen (Kristen & Evan, Sarah, Emily), Sharon & late Kevin (Matthew & Hawa), and Kevin & Leanne. Loved brother of the late Marjorie Ramsay, Francis Cove, the late Florence Hands, the late Betty Cloutier, the late Lynn Cove and late infant twin brothers, John, and Gordon Cove.
When their children were young, Glenn and Pat embarked on an ambitious adventure and purchased and cleared a heavily treed lot on St. Joseph Island. Together they built their dream home on the water and transformed the lot into a beautiful property enjoyed by them throughout their entire lives. Their children and grandchildren treasured their time together there and lifelong memories were made of catching frogs, swimming in the lake, lying on the sandy beach, rides on grandpa’s tractor, bonfires, lawn games, tubing on the lake and most especially enjoying the laughter and feeling the love of family. That was truly Glenn’s legacy to his family.
Glenn was a man of simple pleasures. He loved a good book, his wife’s baking, time with his family, watching The Blue Jays games on television, and basking in the stunning natural environment that surrounded him, especially the birds, which he could name with ease. Glenn had a kind heart, was always willing to lend a hand, an astonishing knowledge of all things mechanical, and was a talented carpenter and welder. He had a mischievous smile, a twinkle in his eye, a sweet ever-present smile on his face and a loving, generous heart. Glenn was a gifted story-teller, a life-long practical joker and loved to laugh at the silliness of everyday life. He shared his passion for building classic clocks and gifted his handcrafted clocks to his children, who display them in their homes with pride.
We, as a family, are left bereft at the loss of our husband, father, and grandfather, but know that we will hold him tenderly in our hearts and in the love, we share as a family until the end of our days.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Precious Blood Cathedral on Wednesday August 17, 2022, at 1:00 pm. A Private burial will be held at a later date.
