Glendwyn Arthur
“Glen” Jefferson – age 85, of Kentville,
passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after a short but
courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in the
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Torbrook, Annapolis
County, he was a son of the late Victor and Evelyn (Wiswall)
Jefferson. Glen studied Radio and television arts. He worked at CJCH
Radio in Halifax and then moved back to the Annapolis Valley and
taught electronics at the King Regional Vocational School in Kentville
(NSCC Kingstec) for over 30 years. He coached the school hockey team
for many years, was an avid curler and represented Team Nova Scotia at
the Curling Masters in Saskatchewan. While he was at Middleton
Regional High School, he excelled at many sports, especially track and
field. He accredited this to his coach Al Peppard. Glen believed the
most important thing in life was family and he always put his family
first. He is survived by his wife, Joan Marie (Masters); three
daughters, Linda (Harold) Doherty, Lower Sackville; Debbie (Steven)
Russell, Kentville and Jane (Paul) Jackson, Texas; a son. Steven
(Eleanor), Hammonds Plains; seven grandchildren, Drew (Brooke), Luke,
Rosalynn (Ryan), Maddie, Chase, Grace and Aidan; his first great
granddaughter (due in December); nieces, nephews, extended family and
friends. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Cole and
Marie Fitch and a brother, John Jefferson. Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on Saturday, September 10,
2022 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral
service and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September
11, 2022, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place
in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. The family wishes
to express their sincere appreciation to Greg White and the team at
White Family Funeral Home, Dr. Chris King and Kelly Bezanson (his
receptionist); paramedics, Jason Stevens, Matt Parrish and Jason
Martin as well as Dr. MacNeil, RN Jill and the staff of Valley
Regional Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion through this
very difficult time. Donations in memory may be made to Valley
Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted
to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
