Passed away peacefully on February 28, 2022 at 91 years of age.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Rudolf (1988). Cherished mother of Detlef (Ruth), Rudy (Ivon), and Tom (Amanda). Adored Oma of Rudy Jr. “R.J”, Jaime (Walfri), Willy, Tom Jr., and Charlie. Loving great-grandmother of Audrey, Ryan, Ava, and Romeo. Survived by her dear sister Hildegard Naumawitsch and her sister-in-law Erika Schmegner. Predeceased by her parents Stefan and Caroline Schmegner, her brothers Joseph and Ernie, and her brother-in-law Edmund Naumawitsch and sister-in-law Helga Schmegner. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Gerda was a beautiful cook and baker, while maintaining her family home. She volunteered with the Red Cross in her early years. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Chartwell – Oakpark, especially Ravi, for their excellent care of mom.
A private family service and burial at Heavenly Rest Cemetery have taken place. Arrangements entrusted to Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, (519) 969-5841.
