On July 14th, the Doyle Family lost a great man that held a place in many hearts. Gerard Joseph Doyle age 74, following a fierce battle with Firefighters Esophageal Cancer and Brain Cancer, passed peacefully away at home surrounded by loved ones.
Jerry is predeceased by beloved Baby Jerry; his parents Joseph and Mary; brother John; brothers and sisters-in-law: Leo, Pat, Melvin, Marian and Linda; and niece Nancy and nephew Michael.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 50 years, Janie; daughter Teri (Jason) Chadwick; Papa’s pride and joy, his three grandsons: Doyle, Blake and Cole; son Stephen; and special Great-Nephew Bradley (Missie) and Little Miss Peyton. Also leaving to mourn, members of the Doyle Family: his sister Marie; brothers: Francis (Jane), Stan (Linda), Gary, Joe (Patsy) and members of the Walsh Family: Mary (Doug), Patsy (Ronnie), Jimmy (Barb), Barbara, Kay (Billy), Billy (Marilyn), Peggy (Jim), Donna (Dave), and Bev; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially: Billy and Rose, Carter and Marian, Nat and Gladys, Ricky and Alicia, Harry and Lynn, John and Carol, Fr. Jeff, Fr. Ken, Fr. Gary and Fr. Paul. He will also sadly missed by St. Joseph’s Parish Choir, Sunshine Seniors Card Club and countless charities and community organizations from Petty Harbour to the Southern Shore.
Jerry was extremely proud of his work that earned him the Petty Harbour Lifetime Achievement Award. He was an exceptional athlete and fisherman, a passionate Firefighter, steadfast leader, devoted husband, an always there Dad and a “good in everyway Papa”.
A heartfelt Thank You to his most supportive shoulders: Dr. John Janes, Pharmacist Pat Williams at Pharmachoice Goulds, Community Health RN Kelly Ralph, Palliative Care Dr. Dawe, Oncology Dr. Armstrong, Radiation Dr. Drodge alongside of the Radiation and Administrative Staff of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. These people were always professional, but more importantly true burden bearers for Jerry and his caregivers.
Resting at Cauls Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation hours are Saturday, July 16th, 2022 from 7-9pm and Sunday, July 17th from noon – 9pm. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Parish, Petty Harbour on Tuesday, July 19th at 10:30 am with inurnment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Petty Harbour.
