May 1, 1941 – July 12, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Winston Crewe announce his passing at the Western Long Term Care Home, Corner Brook, at the age of 81.
Gerald is predeceased by his wife: Winnie; parents: Donald and Dorothy; brothers: Melvin, Roy and James; and sister-in-law: Liz.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, brothers: Ray (Eileen), Ralph (Jane) and Tony; sisters: Marg Joy, Judy (Kevin) Veitch, Patsy (Derek) Hollett and Peggy Welsh (Lloyd McCarthy) as well as a large circle of family and friends.
Gerald was an avid sports fan with a special love of the Montreal Canadians. He also had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at his cabin on the Upper Humber. Gerald worked for 33 years with Corner Brook Pulp and Paper before his retirement and was a long-time member of the press club.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Western Long Term Care Home, Second Floor, Bayside Unit, for the compassionate and professional care provided to Gerald.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue from where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment to follow at the United Cemetery, Pasadena.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society – Newfoundland and Labrador or to a charity of one’s choice.
