Jerry Gildart of 62 Johnson
Avenue passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday,
September 11, of natural causes.
Jerry was a retired machinist
with Canadian National Railway. He and his wife, Erma
Gildart, were the founders of the deaf ministry at the Moncton
Wesleyan Church where they gave selflessly of their time for more than
20 years supporting deaf members of the community. Jerry’s
hobbies included woodworking, hunting, and motorcycling. He was an
avid reader, loved watching baseball, and old
movies.
Jerry was born in Moncton, the
son of Otto Gideon Gildart and Georgia Chapelle Gildart. He was
predeceased by an infant daughter, Naomi Ruth; Sisters, Margaret
McLuskey, Billy Coates, Shirley Cudmore, and Ruth Thompson; Brother,
Sherman Gildart.
Jerry (Poppa) will be sadly
missed by his loving family; Daughter, Dawn Lynn Bowness (Chip), White
Rock, BC; Sons, Peter David Gildart, Lower Sackville, NS and Glenn
Francis Gildart (Joyce) of Pointe Du Chene, NB; Grandchildren; Doctor
Samuel Gildart (Chiaki), Nathan Gildart (Yuka), Jesse Bowness (Sonia),
Joel Gildart, Constable Andrew (Dewey) Gildart, and Rebecca Kervin
(Andrew); Great Grandchildren, Livia and Lincoln Gildart, Jayden and
Naomi Kervin, Leo Gildart, and Stirling and Bennett
Bowness.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral
Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 6:00 to
8:00 pm. The Service to Celebrate and Honour Jerry’s life
will be held at The Moncton Wesleyan Church Life Center, 945 St.
George Blvd, Moncton on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:00 am with
Rev. L. D. Buckingham,Rev. David Way and Rev. Jim Clements
officiating. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial
Gardens.
