Smith, George William
A resident of Chatham, George Smith passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the age of 61.
He was the son of the late George William Sr & Gladys Robert (nee Essin).
George will be deeply missed by his wife of 30 years, Katherine Howey.
Remembered always by his three daughters, Sarah Ritchie (Steve Rossignol), Krista Smith and Kayla Smith.
Proud gampie of Kylie Ritchie, Brooke Ritchie, Gavin Ritchie, Shawn Ritchie, Rylett Ritchie, Dani-lynn Ritchie, Tyler Rossignol, Jayson Rossignol, Andrew Howey, & Michael Smith.
Great-grandpa of Ashton Ost-Ritchie.
Dear brother of Rosie Smith, Bev Smith (Kenny Wickwire), Gerald Robert (Tina Thorpe) & Robin Robert (Ken).
Brother-in-law of Karen Parrish (Steve) & Terry Empey (Robert).
Missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
George was the proud owner of True Blue Roofing and worked for various construction companies. He was a Free spirit and was an “choose his own adventure” kind of guy. He was a fan of watching football, enjoyed drawing & creating custom poems. And most of all, he enjoyed telling stories & being his grandkids personal chafferer. His grandchildren were his pride & joy and he will be deeply missed by all.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 11:00 am until the Funeral Service begins at 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. Cremation to follow.
In memory of George, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
