Babbitt, Lt/Cmdr G.W. (Bill) (Jumper)
April 5, 1924 – October 20,2022
It is with much sadness we report that our Father (Dianne, Ralph (Sarah), Bob and David (Susan)) / Grandfather (Jonathan (Miriam), Christopher (Melanie), Emily (Jessie), Miranda, Liam (Katie), Matthew, Alex) / Great-Grandfather (Dylan, Jono, Lacey, Micah, Isabelle, and Dylan) left us Oct 20, 2022.
He led a life full of adventure and daring as a naval pilot, but mainly was a wonderful man who fathered a large extended family, with love and tenderness. Dad was part of a Canadian contingent to NATO, including during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the early 60’s. He was an avid reader, able to quote from many classics, making him a great English teacher at Ashbury College, where he also coached sports, especially softball.
The highlight of his later years was the time spent with “My Betty”, wintering in Clearwater Beach, but driving thousands of miles out of their way to go through every state getting there and back.
We miss him greatly, but feel his wife/his Betty/our mother will welcome him with open arms into heaven.
Friends and family may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 2pm to 4pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, October, 26, 2022 at 11am with The Reverend Canon Jim Beall officiating. Interment at Beechwood Cemetery will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Perley Health, who made their residence his new home and brought back the artist in him, would be appreciated. They went above and beyond and are so appreciated.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of George William Bill Babbitt Thursday October 20th 2022..
