With broken hearts the family announces the tragic passing of Mr George Brunton. Mr Brunton died in Latchford on Wednesday May 25, 2022 at the age of 90 years.
He was born in Gravenhurst November 30, 1931 to the late Alfred Brunton and to the late Elsie Whitehouse. Mr Brunton joined the Navy at 17 years old and because he was a bit too young his mother had to sign and give permission for him to join. He was in the Navy for 5 years and then joined the Air Force for five years. During his time in the Navy he served in the Korean War and was also able to attend Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. He owned a moving company for many years and in his later years managed three apartment buildings in Toronto. He moved to Latchford in the late 80’s and he spent as much time on Bay Lake fishing as he could. Fishing was his passion. He said to many people over the years that if he could die fishing he would die a happy man.
Mr Brunton is predeceased by his parents, his son George Alfred Brunton, his wife Marion DeWolfe and by his ten siblings. Left to mourn his loss are his children Cindy (late Clayton) White, Debby and her husband Tom McLennan, Linda and her husband Kerry Wilhelm, Rick and his wife Andra VanGog and Mike VanGog. Cherished grandfather of Todd, Becky, Kevin, Caley, C.J, Connor, Coulter, Blair, Jeff, Deanna, Nicholas and Ryan. Also surviving is his brother Gerry and his wife Carol Brunton, his sisters-in-law Shirley and Vi Brunton as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A celebration of Mr Brunton’s life will be held at the Latchford Royal Canadian Legion Branch 629 on Sunday June 05, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00pm. Everyone is welcome. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to a charity of your choice will be greatly appreciated. Condolences and memories may be left at www.buffamleveille.com
