George Gregory “Greg” Dunkley
23 mars 1965 –
21 juillet 2022
George Gregory (Greg) Dunkley, age 57, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Thursday, July 21 after a brief battle with cancer. Proud father of Codi-Lyn and Christian, he was predeceased by his father, Rev. George Dunkley, and is survived by his mother, Dr. Colleen Dunkley, brothers Derek (Wendy) and David (Caminee), nieces (Adela, Sahana, Sitara, Sierra), and numerous cousins.
Greg attended high school at Ridley College and completed his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto at Mississauga and Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa. He was passionate about sharing knowledge, and he was a devoted and valued teacher for JK – gr. 8 students in the Peel District School Board for 31 years. He loved nature, classic rock music, sports (in particular, the Seahawks and the Flyers), cross-country skiing, cycling, and hiking in many places all around North America. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage near Kincardine, especially walking on the beach, watching sunsets, and stargazing, as well as the “joie de vivre” of many visits to Tadoussac, Quebec. Greg lived life to the fullest up to the very end, making a remarkable journey to Tadoussac with Codi and Christian with the whales coming close to shore to say goodbye, just a few days before his passing. Although he did not live a long life in years, he had an amazing life filled with memories and things he loved to do.
Cremation will occur in Mississauga followed by interment of his ashes at St. Luke’s Church in Pine River at a later date this summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund Canada or the Peel Learning Foundation.
