THOMPSON, George Brian (November 9, 1954 – November 9, 2022) –
It is with profound sadness, that we the family wish to announce the sudden passing, of our much-loved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, George Brian Thompson, a resident of RR6 Tillsonburg. George passed away peacefully at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, on November 9, 2022, marking his 68th birthday. George was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario to his predeceased parents: Gordon and Madeline (nee Deeg) Thompson. George will be remembered as a dedicated employee and Log Truck Driver with Townsend Lumber Inc., Tillsonburg, over the past 27 years. In his spare time, he loved to work on his cars, but above all else, he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately dubbed him ‘Grandpa George’. George is survived by his loving wife of 29 wonderful years, Val Stratton, of Tillsonburg. Lovingly remembered by his daughter Angie (Darryl Atkinson), of Mt. Elgin and children Payton and Rylee; by his son Eric (Lyvonne) Thompson, of Tillsonburg and children Kaylee and Logan; by his stepdaughter Judith DesRoches (Dave Schiffers), of London and children Sidney (Matt), Emily, and Denika; and by his stepson Shawn (Janine) DesRoches, of London and children Zack (Abby), Luke, and Nathan. Always a caring brother to Bill (Janet) Thompson, Carol (Jim Knack), Wayne (Patti) Thompson, and predeceased by a much-loved brother Richard (July 31, 2017). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and by his special dog and best friend, ‘Abby’.
All of George’s friends, neighbours and relatives are invited to attend public visitation on Sunday, November 13th, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve funeral Homes Chapel, 40 Queen Street, Langton. A Public Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel, on Monday, November 14th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. by Pastor Ted Smith. In keeping with George’s wishes, burial will take place in Langton Baptist Cemetery, on Monday, November 14th.
