George Brasier Monday July 11 2022 avis de deces

Leonard “George” Brasier – After 87 years full of hard work and finely crafted projects, George passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022 surrounded by his loving wife Helen, their 7 children and their spouses. Born to William and Lillian Brasier in 1935, George was a caring oldest brother to Ken (predeceased), Deanna Reynolds, and Nancy Corley. As a teenager, he met the love of his life and his future wife of 65 years, Helen Kelbrick, at the Academy Theatre where they both worked. Together they raised their large family in Lindsay. He was a much-loved Dad, and his kids – Michael (Margie), Laurie Richards, Shelley (Sarah Keys), Kevin (Theresa Henry), Colleen Demoe (Steven), Darren and Joanne – are forever grateful for instilling his many life lessons, as well as passing along his hard work ethic. Grandpa, Papa, Great-Grandpa & G.G.Pa will be greatly missed by Meaghan, Steven, Leanne, Kelly, Amanda, Marleah, Dakota, Mercedes, Jacob, Kirsten, Cassidy, Nicholas, Tom, Lillian and Elizabeth, and his great grandchildren. He is also fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Jean smith and Patsy Dowson.
George worked for Union Carbide for 32 years, retiring as a Foreman in 1989. At the same time, he was often undertaking handyman jobs for others, not to mention the constant projects and renovations underway in his own home and those of his family. Retirement provided more time for existing hobbies, such as his woodworking and yelling at the Leafs and Blue Jays through the TV, and new ones like Tai Chi. His legacy as a fine craftsman, from delicate doll cradles and miniature wooden trucks, to the beautiful home he and Helen designed and built, will live on.
George’s family is thankful for all of the support and care received from Dr. Carruthers, the Emergency and Trauma Departments and the ICU team at Ross Memorial Hospital during his last two weeks, as well as the ongoing care from Amy Thompson and Dr. Vorster.
Visitation will be held at Mackey Funeral Home on Monday July 18, 2022 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North on Tuesdsay July 19, 2022 at 1:30p.m. If desired, memorial donations to A Place Called Home or the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation can be made by cheque at Mackey Funeral Home or online at www.mackeys.ca
