on July 17, 2022, in Thunder Bay Pioneer Ridge. Gaston was born on April 12, 1942, in Chicoutimi, Quebec to Lucien & Germaine Tremblay (Gagnon). He met the love of his live Lorraine Kearns in the Swisha, making Thunder Bay their home in 1985 & raising their 2 sons.
Gat was a dedicated family man, loving, supporting them in his quiet gentle way but most of all instilling his work ethic and love of the outdoors into both sons.
Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lorraine; beloved sons, Sean (Sheila) Demerah, Dana (Kristina) Tremblay, cherished grandchildren Anne Marie, Adain, Dalton, Setsa, Kaylib, & precious great grandson Dominik & great granddaughter Rhiannon.
Predeceased by sisters Gisele & Jocelyne, brothers Jean Pierre and Andre. Survived by sisters Michelle (Roland), Lucienne (Jean-Charles), Louise (Andre), Francine (Robert), Diane (Gaetan), Suzie (Jack), brothers Jean Paul (Mary), Maurice (Lise), Yvon, many nieces, nephews, & cousins along with extended family & friends in Quebec and Ontario.
Gaston was a man who prided himself on his strong work ethic & never backing down from a challenge. He left school at a young age to pursue a career as a horse team wood hauler in Quebec. Gaston was a generous man who gave his paycheck to his mother to provide for the entire family. An accident at the sawmill, led him to give up the life of a bush worker & paved a new career path for him to work with his father building the famous ski runs at Mount Tremblant as well as he worked in construction for the City of Montreal & Armbro Construction in Toronto. From there, Gat’s career turned to the world of working with many types of heavy equipment.
Gat grew a valued work relationship with Ken & Bud Gonneau while working for Valley Haulage and Pollard Bros., which led that relationship turning into a long-standing friendship that included hunting and fishing.
The 1970’s, led Gat to his final career in the trucking industry as an owner operator with
Great Lakes Forest Products, Northwestern Chips, Commercial Transport, Trans Provincial, Volume Tank Transport. In his 45 years, Gat proudly owned over 20 tractor trailer units.
Work brought the family back to Thunder Bay in the mid 70’s only to move to Espanola, ON in the early 1980’s eventually back to their final move making Thunder Bay home in the mid 80’s where he became Terminal Manager for Pollard Bros. & Pollard Highway Products where he remained until retirement at the age of 73 in 2015.
Thank you, Pioneer Ridge doctors, nurses, & support workers, for all the care and compassion shown to Gat and our family over the last 5 years; you all went above & beyond.
