The Man With 9 Lives
You could often hear Gary joking that he was like a cat with nine lives and he was on his 9th. Gary loved his family and friends. He also loved playing cards, boating on the St. John River, as well as, camping and canoeing on the Restigouche River. He very much enjoyed getting down on the floor and playing with his grandchildren.
Gary was a fighter, first diagnosed with prostate cancer in August 2006. He endured 39 intensive radiation treatments and was in remission for 6 years. In 2012, the prostate cancer returned but he continue his courageous fight. A heart attack in 2016 slowed him down for a bit, but as he would joke, I don’t have two feet in the grave yet.
Gary worked 29 years at the mill and made lasting friendships. He greatly enjoyed morning coffee with the gang at Robins in Nackawic.
Unfortunately, in September of 2018, we learned of Gary’s bone cancer. He continued to fight, taking an experimental bone treatment, and other medications, including chemotherapy a week ago.
Gary was admitted to Hospice House Fredericton on Saturday, April 16th where he was cared for until the end of his earthly journey. Surrounded by his immediate family, this angel has most certainly earned his wings and will no longer experience pain or suffering.
Gary leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, who cared for him day and night, Michelle LeBlanc Englehart, daughter Tanya Englehart (Dan Wright), son Terry Englehart (Beth Boileau Englehart), and beloved grandchildren (Marley, Kayla & Kyra, brother Kenneth Englehart (Clara Martin), Englehart nieces (Jenny & Laura and numerous nieces and nephews on the LeBlanc side of the family.
A memorial Service will take place at the Kirk United Church, 20 Landegger Drive, Nackawic, NB., on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00.
As per Gary’s wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home, as well as, no reception at the church, or at the house. Due to Covid 19, the church can accommodate 50 people at 6 meters apart. Please wear a mask. Thank you.
