McDERMOTT, GARRY – (Retired Welder with Fraser Papermill in Thorold.) Passed away peacefully, with his family all around him on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Niagara Health St. Catharines Site in his 82nd year. Husband and best friend to Bonita (née Seabrook) for 35 years. Proud dad to Tara (Tony) Fryer of British Columbia, Tara (David) Bakker of Dundas, Jeff Landry of Brantford and Mark Daley of St. Catharines. “Grandpa” to Chris (Bry) and Ashlyn and “Papa” to Jamee, Olivia, Ian and Julia. Great Grandpa to Kael, Deacon, Karter and Aspen. Missed by his sister Mel Holmes (Nick D’Aurizio), he was predeceased by his brother Brian. Brother-in-law to Robert (the late Donna) and Frances and best buds with cousin Mike. Garry will be fondly remembered by his large extended family and his many, many friends. He was a classic car enthusiast and had a love affair with wood. Baseball was also a passion of Garry’s; Go, Jays, go!. Relatives and friends will be welcomed to a memorial visitation at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME, 2 Regent Street, Thorold, on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 1:00 PM – 6:00 P.M. If desired, donations in memory of Garry may be made to Walker Family Cancer Centre (a division of Niagara Health) or Diabetes Canada. Garry’s family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of 3B at the St. Catharines site.
