Gale Henrietta Bennewies of Stratford, Ontario passed away April 27, 2022. Born in 1946, Gale was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Daye) Corcoran of Sisson Brook, N.B. She is survived by her husband Barry Bennewies; her son Shawn (Wendy) of Mitchell, her son Corey (Heather) of Stratford; grandsons Kody, Tanner, and Harley; one granddaughter Cali; sisters Sarah (Basil) Goodine, Linda (Ernie) Smith and Edie Corcoran; brothers Wade (Sandra) Corcoran, Hank (Laurie) Corcoran, Tom (Val) Corcoran and Ben (Marjorie) Corcoran; sister-in-law Lois (Everett) Corcoran; numerous nephews and nieces and a special niece Marie (Francois) Golbeck and great nephew Henri Golbeck.
Besides her parents, Gale was predeceased by sisters Hilda Gallant, Ellen DeMerchant and infant sister Marilyn, brothers Everett, Reg, and Mark Corcoran.
Gale’s most enjoyable activity in recent years was being out on the hiking trails with family and loved canoeing. She loved being out in nature. First and foremost, Gale lived for and was fiercely loyal to the family she was born into and the family she created with her husband. She loved working and had a very long work life, with fond memories of the company Krug and her co-workers there.
Gale will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have her in their lives.
A private family gathering will be held at W. G. Young funeral home in Stratford, ON on Monday, May 2nd, 2022. Interment will be in New Brunswick at a later date. Donations can be made to Burntland Brook Cemetery in New Brunswick or charity of your choice. Special thanks to her family doctor, Dr. Langford, London Regional Cancer program team, the nursing staff from the Chemotherapy Unit at Stratford General Hospital, and especially to Care Partners nurse, Sherry, her primary home caregiver Heather Gascho and support person Marie Golbeck.
