FORREST, Frederick Carl – 81, of Foxbrook, Westville, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Fred was born in Oxford, NS on January 11, 1941 to the late James and Hazel (Carde) Forrest. Prior to his retirement in 2006 he worked for over 40 years at Glasgow Metals as a welder/fitter/layout worker. Throughout his life Fred enjoyed going to the beach, family reunions, long drives, movie trivia, cribbage, darts, fishing, reading, and curling. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 35 and also volunteered many hours at the L.O.R.D.A. Park and enjoyed taking part in the maple sugar harvest process. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Farris Stevens); daughter, Shelly Forrest-Dalton (Tim Dalton), Westville; sons, Fred (Margie), Oxford; Jim (Kim), New Glasgow; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Donnie) Dempsey, Herring Cove; Mina (Mac) Brown, California; Margaret (Herman) Langille, Truro; Janet LeClair, Moncton; brother-in-law, Ross (Bev) Hayward, Oxford; sister-in-law, Judy (Brad) McNeil, Maine, many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his furry friend Princess. Fred was predeceased by his first wife Eileen (Crawford), brothers James Jr., Douglas, Jerry, Brian; sisters, Georgie, Elsie Hayward; brother-in-law, James LeClair. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2022 in Pine Grove Cemetery, Black River Road, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, Pine Grove Cemetery, Oxford or to a charity of your choice.
