1932-2022
The passing of Freda Joan (Cooke) Stewart, formerly of
Pennfield NB occurred at the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews NB on
December 11, 2022. Born in Utopia NB on September 18, 1932, she was a
daughter of the late Norman and Lillian (Chambers) Cooke. A loving
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Freda is survived by her
son: David (Cindy) MacDougall; her grandchildren: Justin (Kristen)
MacDougall of Pennfield NB and Kelsey (Russell) McCrum of Bonny River
NB; two great-grandchildren: Rhaya and Ryatt; several nieces, nephews
and cousins. In addition to her parents, Freda was predeceased by her
first husband: Charles Edward MacDougall; her second husband: Lawrence
Vernon Stewart; her brothers: James Cooke, Chester Cooke, Lawrence
Cooke and Glendon Cooke; and sisters: Mae Noiles, Sylvia Kilpatrick,
Ivy Henry, Helen Frost and Annabelle James.
A homemaker most of her life, Freda loved and took pride in
caring for her husband’s Charles and Lawrence and their families. In
her free time, Freda enjoyed going for drives and loved to be in the
company of her grandchildren. She looked forward to conversations with
her niece, Sylvia, and she was the last surviving member of her
immediate family.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home
(755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. There will be no
visiting. A service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 from the funeral
home chapel with John Fournier officiating, followed by the interment
in the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Freda’s memory, donations to a
charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the
family.
