Obituary
We are sad to share that Frank passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 only months shy of this 95th birthday. His family was steadily beside him during the waning days of his long and wonderful life.
Frank was born in Swansea Ontario, now part of Toronto, on June 29, 1927 to Mary (nee Hardcastle) and John “Jack” Simons who had emigrated from England not long before. Although an only child, Frank was part of a larger extended family and spent much time with his cousins, aunts and uncles enjoying get-togethers at the Simons grandparents’ home nearby. As an adult, Frank had a successful career at Bell Telephone and its various incarnations. He moved to BC from Ontario in 1972 and has made Penticton his home ever since. Frank had a deep regard for the outdoors, especially a much-loved Muldrew Lake in Muskoka, and, later those favourite BC spots where he enjoyed camping and fishing with Pat and their families. Truly, Frank was an environmentalist long before there was a word for it.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Patricia Simons and his children, Lee Simons, Dianne Ramage, Lorna (Jeff) Secunda, Jana (Bob) Shedden, and two cherished step-children, Marnie (Mark) Peterson and Brian (Kate) Peterson as well as 17 grandchildren and, now, 13.8 great grandchildren. Frank was predeceased by his daughter, Kelly Boyda, in 2018. Frank was a quiet man with a keen sense of humour and a notoriously wry smile that we never tired of coaxing from him.
