Obituary of Frances Eastwood
Frances (Thompson) Eastwood born April 11, 1922, passed away peacefully one week prior to her 100th Birthday on April 2,2022 at her daughter’s home in Campbellville, Ontario.
Frances was born in London Ontario and was an only child of Earl and Meta Thompson. Frances was predeceased by her parents and by her dearly beloved husband of nearly 70 years, John (Jack) Eastwood (2015). Dearly loved Mother of Janice (Guy) Beaumier, Mary Ellen (Paul) Derry and Carol Eastwood (Bob Steadman). She will be greatly missed by grandchildren Andrea (Stephen) Hogan, Marc Beaumier, Justin (Laura) Derry, Kendra Derry, Cameron (Sam) Derry, John Steadman, Ian Steadman, and great grandchildren Lola and Emily Derry, Freya and Declan Hogan and Thomas Derry.
Frances was raised in Ottawa, married Jack in 1945 after he served in WWII and retired from the navy. Frances moved the family around for Jack’s work as an Engineer with Imperial Oil including Sarnia, New Westminster BC., Calgary Alberta, Toronto and back again to Sarnia until retirement. Frances was a long-time member of Central United Church in Sarnia where she volunteered as a CGIT leader and with the UCW. She was a member of IODE and of Queensway Hospital women’s auxiliary. Her greatest joy was all her family and sharing many wonderful times with them at their summer home in Maitland on the St Lawrence River.
A celebration of life will be held at Barclay Funeral Home in Brockville on Friday April 29, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. followed by interment of both Frances and Jack at Oakland cemetery Brockville Ontario. In memory to Frances, sympathy may be expressed through donations to Sick Kids Hospital Toronto. Memories and condolences may be sent online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com.
