Evelyn Mays Lovelace – age 97, of Alcoa, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2022. She was born on January 12, 1925. She graduated from Carter High School and was a longstanding member of Meridian Baptist Church. She was a Bible scholar and Sunday School teacher. Evelyn’s greatest joy was studying God’s Word, having read the Bible through 21 times. She loved to cook and made the best homemade pies for family gatherings.
Family members that passed away before her include parents, Clarence and Zola Nichols Mays; sisters, Betty (Sam) McGhee, Barbara (Bill) Taylor, Marcella Burris; and brother-in-law, John Cruze.
Survived by daughter, Beverly (Bob) Kerr; sons, Phillip (Kathy) Lovelace and Wyatt (Lea) Lovelace; brother-in-law, Dr. Boyd Lee Burris of Rockford, MD; sisters, Dixie Cruze of Knoxville, TN, and Mary Lynn Waterman of Damascus, Oregon.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Bridges Funeral Home with an 11:00 AM service to follow, Rev. Dana Fachman officiating.
