Obituary
Evelyn Manser, 75, of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2022 following a week long journey in palliative care.
Lyn was born on November 18th, 1946 to André and Thérèse Gorieu in Lethbridge, AB. Her formative years were shared with her mother and father and five siblings (Lorraine, Eloise, Genevieve, Marc and Albert). Her siblings will remember her for the wisdom, strength, courage, hope and faith. Lyn graduated from Saint Charles Academy, Winnipeg, MB, in 1965, and became a Dietary Technician from N.A.I.T. in Edmonton. Lyn then managed food services for Mount Royal College. Lyn had a gift for knowledge and later pursued a Library Technician diploma from S.A.I.T, two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Athabasca University and Mount Royal College.
In June 1971, Lyn met Murray Clyde Manser in Wainwright, AB. They began dating and were engaged by September and married on November 19, 1971. Lyn and Clyde had their first child, Karin in Calgary, in 1974. Their second child, Kevin was born in Germany, in 1976. Lyn and Clyde celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November 2021. Moving to Germany in 1975, Lyn developed her talent as a mother: making adventures educational and always wonder. There were also moves to Oromocto, NB (1979-1981), Calgary, AB (1981-1984), Sus, NB, (1984-1988) and back to Calgary (1988).
Lyn was enthusiastic about various hobbies but the one love that never left her was books. She spent 22 years in the Calgary Catholic School Board serving numerous schools. She loved her many librarian friends.
Her Roman Catholic faith was a pillar of her life. She served the Calgary Live-In Society, was a member of Regnum Christi and volunteered with her parish. She is known for generosity, diligence, and a cheerful smile. Her last days were deeply blessed by the prayers of friends and family.
After 2015 Lyn’s greatest joy became her granddaughter, Audrey. When Audrey heard about her grandma passing she said “She was the best grandma for reading stories to me ever…” “Please make prayers so that my grandma can quickly go to heaven, and we will remember her in our hearts and in our souls.”
Lyn is predeceased by her father, André and her sister, Eloise. She is survived by her husband Clyde and her two children Karin (Greg) and Kevin (Jeannette) and her granddaughter Audrey. She is also survived by her mother, Thérèse and her four siblings, Lorraine, Genevieve, Marc and Albert.
Lyn had a beautiful soul and a loving spirit. She is already missed and will always be in our hearts.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 4 St SW), on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 1:00pm. A visitation will precede the Mass at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Chalice Canada in Lyn’s honour.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Evelyn Ann Manser November 18 1946 July 8 2022 (age 75)..
