Ethel Helen Miller – 92, Truro, formerly of Saint
John, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January
16, 2022. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.
Ethel was a kind woman who was always caring for others
before herself. Faith supported her in everything she did; belonging
to the UCW at First United Church in Truro and the Christian
Women’s Group were instrumental in allowing her to express
her charitable nature. She was a giving woman whom would help those in
need any way she could.
Music was one of her passions, as well as dancing, which is
where she met her husband, Gerry; together they belonged to a square
dancing club. She attended many musical performances from amateur to
professional, including traveling to see the Oberammergau Passion Play
in Germany. She belonged to The Happy Harmonies senior singing group
as well as The Sanford Singers at Wallace Living where she last
resided. She took up a painting class in her later years and revisited
that enjoyment again.
Despite her petite stature she was a strong woman. Her early
years as a mother were frequently solo raising four boys, as Gerry
traveled with work. As the boys grew she took a part-time job as a
seamstress, which was her vocation. Later, Ethel worked at the Truro
hospital in the laundry department utilizing those skills again. She
was also a rock in the wake of her husband’s passing.
Ethel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald
“Gerry” Miller; sister, Florence Bond; mother,
“Nellie” Allaway (Russell).
She is survived by her four sons, Gregory, New Glasgow;
Kevin, Kingsville, Ontario; Stephen (Joseph), Dartmouth; Russell
(Sheila), Truro; many grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
