Ernest Clement Careen 1945 2022 avis de deces

Ernest
Clement Careen
November
23, 1945 – April 3, 2022
It is with great sadness that the families of Ernest Careen
announce his peaceful passing, surrounded by his loving family, at the
Dr. LA Miller Centre on Sunday April 3rd, 2022, at the age
of 76 years.
Ernest lived a simple life and his terms for passing, were no
different. A fisherman most of his life, he retired off the Ryan and
Melissa in 2010, having shared so many memories onboard with Eugene
Careen, Mike Power and all the crew. Ernest loved his days on the
water, but more importantly, the chats with people on the wharf with a
nice cold beer when they landed in Branch. Ernest learned from some of
the best and we have no doubt he is having a yarn about crab with
Benedict, Foncy is telling him the longest story and Jim Mooney is
sitting by, listening quietly. Ernest provided a modest life for his
family, tending to the gardens, cutting wood and living off the land.
He always looked forward to moose hunting season with Melvin, Gary and
Leon. Ernest knew the value of true friends, those he could count on
to take care of whatever he needed and in the community of Point
Lance, there were too many to mention, it truly is the special place
he called home. While Ernest and Gussie Nash were always close, in his
later years that friendship grew. He never missed an evening call, and
he always knew that “Gussie will take care of that for me.”
The family are grateful for the friendship and support Gussie has
provided to Ernest.
Mourning his loss, with treasured memories are his children;
Joyce (Michael), Daryl, Mark (Ellen), his grandchildren; Kendra,
Jordan and Daniel, his great grandchildren; George and Molly, all of
whom will miss his evening calls with the same questions. George and
Molly introduced him to FaceTime and he lite up when he saw their
little faces on the screen saying, “Hi Poppy
Cream”.
In addition to a large circle of family and friends, Ernest
also leaves behind his sisters Emma (Henry), Helen (Kevin), Katie
(Paddy), Lucy (Robert), Mabel (Frank), Marie (Gussie) and
brother-in-law, Peter Corcoran.
Ernest joins his parents Tom and Mary Careen, and siblings
Julie, Leonard and Bob who have gone to rest before him. Also,
welcoming Ernest into heaven with open arms, his wife Molly (deceased
2004) and his son Edmund (deceased 1996). Ernest and Molly’s
door was always open to anyone and if there wasn’t something
cooking, that would change quickly, you never left hungry. The
gathering place after Sunday morning mass, a few beers, the smell of
the Sunday pot boiling, stories told (some lies and tormenting) are
all memories we will hold so dearly.
Ernest’s request was to keep things simple,
“none of that crying and looking at me for three days” were
his exact words. To honor his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Together, his family will join in his final journey to Point Lance on
the evening of Friday April 8th. While there
will be no visitation on Friday, the family will be receiving family
and friends at Our Lady, Queen of Peace Church, Point Lance on
Saturday April 9th 8:00am -10:00am followed by
a Christian service at 10:30am.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of
Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia.
A very special thank you to family friend, Dr Jacqueline
Costello for her unwavering support and guidance during this time.
Also, a heartfelt thanks to Dr Louise Rogers and the amazing nurses of
the Dr. LA Miller Centre – Palliative Care Unit. The nurses treated
Ernest and all our family like their own, you are a very special group
of people, and we will be forever grateful for the care you
provided.
