It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Elsie Tomczak, on August 18, 2022, at the age of 89.
Mom was born June 8, 1933 in Highland Glen, Manitoba.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard in 2018, as well as her parents Anne and Andrew and brother Lorne Obirek.
Elsie will be deeply missed by her son Terry; daughter Barb (Grant) and their children Kaylin (Peter) great grandchildren Braxon and Danae. Kacie (Matthew), and Karmyn; daughter Denise (Alvin) and their children Jason (Zoe) great grandchildren Rachel and Andi. Steven (Chantelle). She also leaves to mourn her sisters Jean (Bill), Steffie (Lloyd), and brother Victor (Bernice) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and family friends.
At a Hazelridge dance, Mom persuaded Dad onto the dance floor, and six years later Elsie Obirek became Elsie Tomczak. Their love of dance took them to many community centres where they would waltz, polka and enjoy many evening together.
Our Mom was a very hard worker alongside Dad on their farm located on Melrose Road. They were market gardeners, as well as making and delivering cream, eggs, cottage cheese and vegetables to their city customers. Mom threw many hay bales in her day, as well as looking after the dairy and beef cattle and chickens.
Mom was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Cooks Creek. She spent many hours contributing her time to help out the Ladies Society.
One of the last trips Mom and Dad took was to Costa Rica, a trip she enjoyed very much.
She was a homebody, and truly loved to tend to her yard, flowers and garden. She was an exceptional homemaker and seamstress as well.
Our Mom was affectionately called “SuperGrandma” by her great grandchildren. Her unsurpassed energy let that title ring true!
After Dad passed she found the strength and courage to still enjoy life to the fullest. She truly loved her children and grandchildren and would spoil them any chance she had.
Even in her last days Mom kept busy. She was in her garden picking cucumbers and making pickles. She always had many projects on the go, and was never, ever bored! Mom said many times, “I don’t feel old, age is just a number!”
We miss you Mom , but we find comfort knowing you are with your dance partner!
