Obituary
No Sad Tears for Me
I only ask one thing, No sad tears for me
Rather recall me with a fond smile as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister and friend who shared your laughter, tears and dreams through the years.
Save your sadness and sorrows for those who leave before their time, for those who leave before they experienced all the wondrous things that life shares like I have.
I’ve lived a good span of years and enjoyed every one of them.
I’ve laughed a lot and cried a little. I’ve seen the fields, a thousand sunsets and a few fresh dawns.
I’ve smelled the spring flowers, felt warm summer breezes, the autumn rain and walked in the fresh fallen snow.
I’ve loved a husband for many years and was loved in return.
I’ve walked with the hands of daughters and sons and held six grandchildren and five great grandchildren in my arms.
Remember the thousand times we were together as family and friends.
My door was always open for all who needed to talk, care, laugh, plan and love.
Remember it all with love and hold it dearly.
I will never be far, as long as there are those on earth who love.
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Elizabeth McEntee, on December 19, 2022. Loving and devoted wife to the late, James Joseph McEntee (2014). Predeceased by her darling daughters Patricia, Donna and Bernadette; and, brothers Leslie, Edwin, Kelly and sister Bridget. Survived by her sister Helen and brother Dennis.
She will be dearly missed by her children: James (Rosanne); Gail (Dominic); Kevin (Anne). Her Amazing Grandchildren: Jason; Joshua (Candice); Carter (Gabrielle); Joy Elizabeth; Andrew; Michael (Caitie); her Precious Great Grandchildren: Grayson, Colton, Callum, Eva and Leo and fondest memories of her many nieces and nephews and her many, long-time friends.
Our mother’s beauty was both inside and out. She was much loved and respected. She handled life’s challenges with love and dignity. Her spirituality and trust in God sustained her and her family throughout the years.
Betty was a long and committed member of her Church. An active member of St. Margaret Mary of Hamilton, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Thomas the Apostle parishes. She was a member of the CWL and in church choirs since her teens. Betty was a Eucharistic Minister for 35 years. She was devoted to raising awareness to Missionaries of Charity; a religious congregation of the Canadian chapter of the Sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, in raising funds and clothing along with a weekly alms box at the back of the Church. She decorated the Altar every Sunday for 25 years, with many of the flowers from her own garden. She was an avid gardener where she could work out her frustrations in the dirt resulting in her finding beauty and tranquility. She was a very active Grandmother playing ball and hockey in the driveway with her Grandchildren whom she cared for and taught them each the love of God. The Great Grandchildren will remember her as well with reading cartoons, magic boxes, colouring, building gingerbread houses and instilling the importance of Prayer.
Celebration of life will take place at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 715 Centre Road, Waterdown on Saturday January 21, 2022. A Funeral mass will be celebrated by Monsignor Sheridan at 11 am followed by a Reception at the Church.
If so desired memorial contributions, in Betty’s memory, can be made to the Canadian Red Cross Ukrainian Relief Fund or a charity of your choice.
“Blessed is the Mother who follows the Lord,
Blessed is the Mother whose faith keeps her going,
Blessed is the Mother who meets all your needs,
Blessed is the Mother who shared so much love.”
That, was our Mother
