Elizabeth Betty Arlene Morris & James Jim Andrew Morris 2022

Obituary
It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of mom/grandma, Elizabeth (Betty) Arlene Morris. She passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022 at Hillcrest Personal Care Home in Brandon, MB.
It is with even sadder hearts that we had to say goodbye to dad, James (Jim) Andrew Morris, just a few short days later on January 17, 2022. Dad was greatly grieved by the loss of his dear “Bet”, his wife and companion of over 70 years. They had shared a room at Hillcrest Personal Care Home in Brandon, MB and we knew that he would be lost without her.
Dad was born on April 19, 1929 in Macdonald, MB to George and Dorthy Morris.
Mom was born on June 26, 1931 in Katrime, MB to Arthur and Mildred Grove.
Dad lived on the family farm near Portage, MB until he met and married mom. Mom grew up in the Katrime area and met and married dad on June 26, 1951.
They raised 4 children. Debbie, Stephen, Cathy and Ken. They had 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren that they enjoyed spending time with.
Mom spent most of her life working as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Dad tried his hand at many jobs over the years, including farming, working in a box factory, being an operating room technician, testing and inspecting cattle for the government, and operating his own charter flying company. Mom and dad also ran a small country store and post office in Helston, MB; built, owned and operated JB’s Drive Inn in Gladstone, MB; and volunteered as ambulance attendants.
They moved to Virden, MB in 1976. And then to Nanaimo, BC in 1979.
While in Nanaimo, mom and dad began to study the Bible and dedicated their lives to serving their God, Jehovah. Their desire to help others led them to spend the rest of their lives trying to teach people about the wonderful hope that the Bible holds out for mankind. That hope includes everlasting life in a paradise earth that is soon to come as Psalm 37:10, 11 promises us. They also treasured the promise at Revelation 21:3, 4 where God promises to “wipe the tears from our eyes” and “that death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry nor pain be anymore”.
Debbie, Cathy, Ken and their families are comforted in knowing that mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, are just “resting” until the promise at John 5:28, 29 is fulfilled, where Jehovah God promises that there will be a “resurrection” of those “in his memorial tombs (Jehovah’s memory)”. We are sure that Jehovah will remember mom and dad when that time comes and that we will get to see them again.
As per mom and dad’s wishes, a private service will be held at Katrime cemetery, MB on the date of their wedding anniversary, June 26.
If anyone wishes, donations can be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society by going to donate.jw.org and donating to the worldwide work. These donations are used to support the religious and humanitarian activities of Jehovah’s Witnesses throughout the globe. These activities include printing Bibles and other publications used to teach others about the Bible and providing disaster relief in areas that are affected by natural disasters.
