It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eleanor Martha James, nee John, of Plantagenet, Ontario, on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the age of 83. Born on March 8, 1939 in Nipigon, Ontario, she was a proud member of the First Nations Red Rock Indian Band. Dear daughter of the late Albert Allen John and the late Martha Mary Wawia. Beloved wife of 65 years to Alfred Royden James. Mother of the late baby Eleanor, Juna Merrill (Luc Lalonde) and Eleanor Winnifred (Brian Armstrong). Grandmother of Justin Lalonde, Erika Grady, Travis and Mavrick Spuehler. Great-grandmother of five great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Floyd Albert, the late Delvina (Donald Oja), the late Greggory (late Réjeanne Lapensée), Betty Ann (Barrie Johnston), the late Diane, the late Paul, the late Albert Hilton (Céline Ménard) and Constance (Lawrence Moore). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Private Family Celebration of Eleanor Martha’s life will be held in the Lamarre & Son Funeral Home’s Chapel, 453 St. Philippe Street, Alfred, Ontario (613) 679-2802.
Sincere thanks to the Palliative Care Unit of the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital, for their compassion and devoted care provided to Eleanor Martha.
